We are excited to announce that the PTSA Scholarship Committee submitted their proposal for the PTSA scholarship and have been working hard to create the foundation and criteria for the scholarship, have it finalized, approved by PTSA Board and in the counseling office for students to apply. We are excited to get the work complete and the scholarship is now available for students to apply. We appreciate the work the committee has done to get this moving forward. Students, please go to the counselors’ suite for eligibility requirements and an application. Deadline is set for March 10, 2020.
About the scholarship
The First in Family Scholarship recognizes the academic achievement and potential of students who are the first in their family to be attending college. Our school namesake, Maynard H. Jackson, Jr., believed in the value of learning, and spent his life in the service of Atlanta youth and families. Maynard H. Jackson High School PTSA is honoring his memory by funding a scholarship for students who will be the first in their families to take on the mantle of higher learning.
Annual award of $250 scholarships for graduating seniors are determined by the approved annual PTSA budget, the collaboration of the Scholarship Committee, and the current MJHS PTSA. Recipients are chosen by the PTSA Scholarship Committee using eligibility requirements established by the committee and approved by the MJHS PTSA board.
