Changes to Meetings & Voting due to COVID-19
Here are the important points in their discovery as it relates to our PTA charter (note: we are not an incorporated PTA):
- Only incorporated PTAs may conduct their general meetings electronically, but are not required to do so. It is absolutely acceptable to wait until your PTA can meet in-person to conduct your business. PTAs that are not incorporated may NOT conduct their meetings electronically and will need to wait until they can meet in person. The remainder of the bylaws stays in effect.
- This means for our PTA meetings or elections, we must meet in person, we must invite our whole membership, and we must have a quorum. Right now, that is NOT advisable or possible.
- What does this mean for us? The current MJHS PTA officers, will continue to be PTA officers until an in-person meeting can be held to elect new officers. After the bans are lifted for groups, and it is acceptably safe to do so, we may convene a special-called general meeting and vote in new officers.
We will keep our membership apprised of updates as we have them. We must follow PTA and state/city and APS ordinances as it pertains to gatherings.
