Dear MJHS Families:
We all know how hard the end of the school year and summer has been on our students, teachers, and administrators. We are also feeling the strain as parents. Your PTSA wants to let you know we are still here and will continue to evaluate and support the new and ever changing needs of our school.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we could not and still can not hold new elections in accordance with Georgia PTA guidelines. Therefore, the officers from the 2019-2020 school year will remain in place until we can safely gather to hold elections. The Nominating Committee is still accepting names of interested members to take a leadership role in the MJHS PTSA. If you are interested, please submit your nomination here.
As a board, we have sought guidance from the District and State PTA councils. To remain transparent with our members, we will be sharing information through the ROAR and our website regarding PTSA business. The 2020-2021 PTSA Budget is included in this ROAR. Due to current economic factors, we made modest estimates for this year’s income. To assist our families and teachers, you will also see an increase in the line items for Sunshine Closet and Teacher Grants. Once again, a vote is not able to occur to approve the budget. With the District and State PTA guidance, expenditures will have to happen to keep PTA business and services moving forward. We will list those clearly in our ROAR and vote to approve once restrictions have been raised for group gatherings. We appreciate your understanding through this process. We also acknowledge all of the hard work of our members this past year.
As always, thank you for your continued support. Since we will not be having in-person events for some time, I encourage you to join online now. We’ve streamlined our online membership process through MemberHub this year and it only take a couple of minutes. None of us really know what the future holds, but we will do our best to be here for our students, teachers and faculty this unique 2020-21 school year!
